Privacy Policy

When you place an order we collect:

• Your email address — to send the finished book and order updates.
• Your pet's details (name, species, breed, markings, personality traits) — used to generate the story and illustrations.
• Photos of your pet you upload— used to generate likenesses for the illustrations. We do not use these photos to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
• Payment information — collected and processed entirely by Stripe. We never see your card number; Stripe gives us a confirmation that payment succeeded.
• Shipping address and phone number — only if you order a printed copy. Used solely to ship the book.
• Order metadata — timestamps, theme/style choices, generation status, for our own reliability and support.

For traffic measurement we use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregated — it records page views and standard Web Vitals without setting tracking cookies or identifying individual visitors. As we grow we will likely add advertising and marketing trackers (for example, conversion pixels from ad networks). When that happens we will update this page first, and where required by law we will add a cookie banner so you can opt in or out before any trackers run. The only cookies set right now are the session cookies our payment provider (Stripe) needs to keep your checkout state.

Building this product means routing your data through a small set of vendors. Each is contractually bound to use it only to provide their service to us:

• Anthropic (Claude)— generates the story text from your pet's details. Pet name, breed, markings, traits, theme, and style are sent.
• Google (Gemini) — generates the illustrations. Your pet photos and descriptive details are sent.
• Stripe — processes payment. Card number, billing address, email.
• Supabase — hosts our database and file storage (photos, book PDFs).
• Resend — sends transactional emails (book ready, order confirmation, shipping updates).
• Lulu Press — produces and ships printed books. Receives your name, shipping address, phone, and the book PDF, only if you order a printed copy.
• Vercel and Render — host our website and background workers.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with advertisers.

Photos and book files are kept indefinitely so you can re-download your book and so we can produce reprints if needed. Email us if you want them deleted sooner.

Order records (your email, pet details, shipping address) are kept for as long as you may need to access them. Stripe and tax authorities require us to retain transaction records for a minimum of seven years.

You can ask us to:

• Show you everything we have associated with your email.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete your photos and personal details (we may need to retain a redacted transaction record for tax compliance).

Email support@pawthology.app from the address on the order, and we'll respond within 14 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. If you are in California, you have the rights granted by the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Pawthology is sold to and used by adults. The product is a book about a pet, often purchased for a child to read, but the account holder is the adult who places the order. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, email support@pawthology.app and we will delete it.

If we change anything material we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, email customers who have an active order. Older versions are available on request.
